Shipping

Non-Furniture Products:

Standard shipping is free on all non-furniture product orders that are above $100.00 before taxes, shipped anywhere within Canada.  US shipping rates and custom charges may apply. Delivery times anywhere within Canada and US may vary from 1-10 business days and Eikonic Academy will not be responsible for any delays in shipping.  Deliveries will include signature guarantee on all scissors and accessories orders over $500.00.

Takara Belmont Products:

Freight shipping rates may apply for all furniture products.  Freight cost depends on furniture weight and number of skids.  Tailgating services additional.  All furniture purchased from Eikonic will be shipped from Takara Company, Canada Ltd.  Please refer to the Takara Belmont Cancellation, Returns and Shipping/Damage/Shortage Policy for more details.

Exchange and Return Policy

Non-Furniture Products:

Items may be returned for exchange if returned within 10 days of receipt, with original packaging in undamaged and sell-able condition.  Must also include the original Certificate of Authenticity to be eligible for an exchange or refund.  Mizutani Scissors products that fall under the Lifetime Warranty of Mizutani Scissors may be returned or exchanged past the 10 day period.  Please refer to the Mizutani Scissors Manual and Lifetime Warranty page for eligibility.  A restocking fee of 10%  may apply to all returns and exchanges.

Takara Belmont Products:

Takara Belmont furniture products are made-to-order.  As such, orders that have commenced will not be returnable or exchangeable.  All defects will be replaced without charge.  Please visit Takara Belmont Beauty and Barber Equipment Warranty Policy for more details. Return/exchange exceptions will be made only to items that have been pre-authorized for return/exchange and have a return authorization number.  Please refer to the Takara Belmont Cancellation, Returns and Shipping/Damage/Shortage Policy for more details before making any returns or exchanges.

Custom Orders

Non-Furniture Products:

All Mizutani Scissors custom orders (includes custom color finish, custom parts or engravings) cannot be returned or exchanged unless product is defective. Any blade defects will be covered by Mizutani Scissors.  Any defects must be reported within 10 days of receipt.  Products that fall under the Lifetime Warranty of Mizutani Scissors may be returned or exchanged past the 10 day period.  Please refer to the Mizutani Scissors Manual and Lifetime Warranty page for eligibility. 

Takara Belmont Products:

Takara Belmont furniture products are made-to-order and require a 50% deposit before commencement, and remaining 50% balance paid before shipping.  All custom orders that have commenced cannot be cancelled or altered unless by mutual consent and may be subject to subject to cancellation charges to commensurate with work done.  Please refer to the Takara Belmont Cancellation, Returns and Shipping/Damage/Shortage Policy for more details.

 

Mizutani Scissors Canada: Store Policies

At Mizutani Scissors Canada, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality, hand-crafted Japanese scissors. As precision tools, our products require a specific set of policies to ensure their longevity and to protect both your investment and our business.


1. Returns & Exchange Policy

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. However, due to the specialized nature of our products, all returns and exchanges are subject to a strict inspection process.

Eligibility Window
You may request a return or exchange within 14 days of the delivery date.

Condition of Return
All returned scissors must be in a perfect, “as-new” and unused condition. We will not accept returns for any scissors that show signs of use, including but not limited to:

  • Cutting hair or other materials
  • Scratches, nicks, or chips on the blade or handle
  • Damage from being dropped or mishandled

Original Packaging
The scissors must be returned in their original, undamaged packaging, including the case, oil, tension keys, warranty cards, and any other included accessories. Any missing or damaged components will render the return ineligible.

Restocking Fee
A restocking fee of 10% will be applied to all returns and exchanges to cover the cost of inspection and reprocessing.

Return Shipping
The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. For your protection, we highly recommend using a tracked and insured shipping service, as we are not liable for items lost or damaged in transit.

Exchange Process
If you wish to exchange your scissors for a different size or model, please contact us to initiate the process. We will not ship the new pair until we have received and inspected the returned pair and any price difference and fees have been settled.

Note:
Custom orders, including custom colours, finishes, or engravings, are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturer’s defect.


2. Warranty Policy

Mizutani products are crafted from premium Japanese steel and designed for long-term professional use when properly maintained and serviced.

Warranty coverage applies only to manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, as determined through inspection. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from normal wear, misuse, improper care, or unauthorized servicing.

Warranty Service & Limitations

If a product is found to have a verified manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship under normal professional use, Mizutani will provide repair service at no charge within one year from the date of purchase, subject to inspection and verification.

Repairs, polishing, or corrective work required due to wear, use-related damage, or external factors are not covered under warranty and may be quoted and completed at the customer’s expense.

What Voids or Is Not Covered Under Warranty

Warranty coverage does not apply to the following:

  • Blade wear, edge degradation, or damage resulting from normal professional use
  • Damage caused by dropping, impact, or mishandling
  • Sharpening, repair, adjustment, or modification performed by an unauthorized third party
  • Damage caused by fire, natural disasters, or other external events beyond normal use
  • Rust or corrosion caused by improper cleaning, storage, or chemical exposure
  • Wear, discoloration, or peeling of hard titanium or colour coatings caused by use or external exposure
  • Issues resulting from incorrect tension adjustment by the user

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your scissors may have a manufacturing defect, please contact us to initiate a warranty assessment. We will provide instructions for shipping the scissors to our authorized service centre for inspection.

Following evaluation, Mizutani will determine whether the issue is the result of a manufacturing defect or wear, misuse, or damage. If a defect is confirmed, the product may be repaired or replaced at Mizutani’s discretion. Customers are responsible for shipping costs to the service centre for inspection.

Warranty Request Timeline

Customers must contact us within 30 days of discovering an issue to request a warranty assessment. Requests submitted beyond this timeframe may not be eligible, as continued use can contribute to additional wear or damage.

Professional Sharpening Requirement

To maintain blade integrity and preserve warranty eligibility, Mizutani scissors must be serviced only by an authorized Mizutani sharpening professional. Servicing by an unauthorized sharpener may void warranty coverage.

What Is Considered a Manufacturing Defect

A manufacturing defect is an issue related to materials or workmanship that is present in the product and occurs under normal professional use. These issues originate during manufacturing and are not caused by use, handling, maintenance, or external impact.

Examples may include:

  • Structural or material faults in the steel
  • Assembly or tension system issues that prevent proper function
  • Blade alignment or closure issues present without use-related damage
  • Coating or finish defects that appear without external cause

All warranty claims are subject to inspection to determine whether an issue is manufacturing-related.

What Is Not Considered a Manufacturing Defect

The following are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered under warranty:

  • Damage caused by dropping, impact, or misuse
  • Damage resulting from cutting materials other than hair
  • Improper sharpening or servicing by an unauthorized sharpener
  • Rust or corrosion caused by improper care or storage

    3. Shipping Policy

    Shipping & Insurance
    All orders are shipped with tracking and full insurance to protect against loss or damage in transit.

    Signature Confirmation
    For the security of your high-value purchase, all orders require a signature upon delivery.

    Processing Time
    Please allow [1–3 business days] for order processing before your order is shipped.

    International Shipping
    For orders shipped outside of Canada, the customer is responsible for any applicable customs duties, taxes, or import fees.

    International Shipping (United States)

    Due to recent changes in U.S. import tariffs and duties, which have resulted in unexpectedly high costs for customers upon delivery, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily pause shipping to the United States.

    This decision was made to protect our clients from surprise fees imposed at the border and to ensure a positive purchasing experience. We understand this may be inconvenient and sincerely apologize for the disruption.

    We continue to monitor the situation closely and will resume U.S. shipping once we can do so with greater clarity and confidence around import costs.

    4. Product Care & Maintenance

    To ensure your Mizutani scissors perform at their best for years to come, we strongly recommend following the care guidelines provided with every purchase. Proper care and maintenance are essential for the longevity of your tools and for maintaining your warranty.

    Cleaning
    Wipe the blades clean with a soft, dry cloth after every use.

    Lubrication
    Apply one drop of high-quality scissor oil to the pivot screw at the end of each day.

    Storage
    Always store your scissors in their case to protect them from damage and moisture.

    Tension
    The tension screw should be adjusted only with the included key and should be loose enough to allow the blades to close smoothly without feeling stiff.

    Timely Maintenance
    If your scissors begin to feel dull or are accidentally dropped and chipped, sending them for professional resharpening and adjustment right away will help preserve their performance and extend their lifespan. Continued use while worn or damaged can lead to further wear.

     


    5. Special Handling Instructions - Model Specific 

    Nano Powder Metal Scissors

    Mizutani scissors made from Nano Powder Metal feature an exceptionally sharp cutting angle that fully maximizes the properties of this advanced steel.

    • Avoid cutting thick sections of hair when first using the scissors
    • Do not loosen the tension screw during the initial use period
    • Improper handling may cause the blade edge to chip

    Wood & +Carbon Scissors

    • Do not drop or expose the scissors to heavy impact
    • Prevent water, perm solutions, or chemicals from contacting the product
    • If contact occurs, wipe immediately and store in a dry environment
    • Avoid exposure to heat, including hairdryer airflow or high-temperature storage, as heat may cause deformation or damage

    Ion-Plated Scissors

    • Chemical exposure (such as perm solutions) may cause discoloration
    • If chemicals contact the surface, wipe immediately and store dry
    • Ion-plated coatings may peel if deeply scratched; handle with care

    Cosine Tools

    • Contains a powerful internal magnet
    • Do not sterilize using boiling water
    • Keep away from mobile phones and electronic devices
    • Use only for cutting head hair
    • Replace the cutting blade after use with each client
