The power of “Nano Powder Metal”

Research has shown that many women suffer from split ends, leading to the query of what could be causing this problem. This question motivated Mizutani's product development team to gain a better insight into cutting hair with scissors. Examining actual hair revealed the mechanisms of hair-cutting, which encouraged further examination of whether scissors could create a clean-cut cross-section without causing damage.

The research team determined that "an optimized angle for cutting hair" was essential in order to achieve superior haircuts, yet conventional scissors that sharpen too much tend to quickly lose their sharpness and become dull.

NPM, otherwise known as "Nano Powder Metal," is produced via HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing)--a specialized production method. NPM is comprised of uniformly-sized particles fused together at high temp & pressure, ensuring low impurity & inclusion levels. This material is utilized to craft precision industrial instruments, like Blu-ray disc molds, which must possess impurity-free properties.

The ACRO Type ZD-4 Dual pairs nano powder metal with precision engineering, creating haircutting scissors that are designed to reduce split ends and improve styling durability. The uniform particles in NPM help create a sharper cutting edge that is safe and comfortable to use.

Mizutani Scissors Acro Type ZD Thinning Scissors table reference

Conventional thinning scissors tend to snag and tangle hair when cutting, making it difficult to release. Mizutani has solved this problem by adding teeth to both sides of the blade, enabling hair to be released in a smooth, comb-like manner. Additionally, the blades have been specially tailored with an angular tip, guaranteeing a snag-free cut and release in all directions, up to the very roots. Get the ultimate 360° cutting experience with ACRO Type ZD-4 Dual thinning scissors.

: NANO POWDER METAL
Our Nano Powder Metal®, manufactured via Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), is a specialized steel fabricated from nano-level powder. This powder is subjected to intense heating and pressure tempering, eliminating unnecessary filler and impurities. Used to produce precision items like Blu-ray disc molds, it demands exceptionally high levels of purity. At MIZUTANI SCISSORS, we conducted our own research into this material to create the perfect hair-scissors: strong blades that maintain sharpness and longevity.
: BALL BEARING
These high-precision metal ball bearings are produced in Japan and boast superior anti-corrosion characteristics compared to foreign-made items. With decreased friction around the screws, they lessen strain on the hands while also protecting the blade from damage, resulting in a longer operational lifespan.

ORGANIC DESIGN
The handles feature an organic appearance that resists metallic sheen. It's sculpted, curved shape provides the cozy feel of natural material, curving and clinging to the finger's shape like a welcomed embrace.

: DISK DRIVER
This flat type driver for UFO screws is designed to be compact and easy to maneuver. It is included with all scissors with the Mizutani Scissors marked logo
