Mizutani Scissors - BLACK-SMITH Solid SL-02

Mizutani Scissors Canada SOLID center of gravity Two professors of Ergonomics and Metal Engineering conducted an analysis that resulted in the BLACK-SMITH Solid SL-02. These scissors feature a center of gravity situated close to the hand to reduce wobbling while cutting. Additionally, a carefully controlled hardening process brings out the ideal properties of the materials, rendering it the ideal all-purpose scissors. For barbering, the 6.5 and 7.0 sizes are particularly recommended.

The BLACK-SMITH Solid SL-02 scissors feature the G-SHIFT design; the center of gravity is shifted closer to the hand, giving the scissors greater balance and stability. With the new handle molding perfectly to the user's hand, wobbling is eliminated during each cutting operation. This assists professionals who open and close their scissors hundreds of times a day, providing fatigue and strain relief.

BLACK-SMITH Solid SL-02 utilizes the advanced Extramarise® Processing, a distinct hardening technique driven by precise temperature management. This method optimizes the qualities of the materials, while giving the scissors the required hardness and durability. Following a collaboration with metallic engineering specialist Dr. Asakura, our team studied the original material of the Solid SL-02 after applying the suitable heat treatment. The comparison between the treated and non-treated materials was striking: the analysis showed that heat treatments can extend the working lifespan of scissors significantly.

EXTRAMARISE; EXTRAMARISE® is a MIZUTANI-developed heat treatment specifically designed for scissors. It uses the perfect temperature required to bring out the most out of special materials like cobalt, molybdenum, vanadium, etc. and create a blade with the ideal strength for haircutting. The performance of any material depends on the heat treatment, which is why the company's proprietary approach (*hardening, tempering, sub-zero processing) is essential. In fact, the process has been carefully crafted to benefit from long years of data and experience. EXTRAMARISE® processing is the ultimate heat treatment for scissors.

These high-precision metal ball bearings are produced in Japan and boast superior anti-corrosion characteristics compared to foreign-made items. With decreased friction around the screws, they lessen strain on the hands while also protecting the blade from damage, resulting in a longer operational lifespan.
